| MakeUpStories Transvestites or pansies are the names given to them, but they call themselves drag queens or club kids. Men rouged in female make up, men in female clothes, very often astonishing in their perfect female gestus. Strangeness and a sign of very different worlds is their personal radiation for most of the other people. Nevertheless, drag queens are not confined on their role of female behaviour. Male, female, artificial or comic, the important thing is fun and happiness in drawing their make up, painting their faces, selecting and fitting their clothes and the most important thing is to have fun and to be creative. However, transvestites are coming much closer to the stereotypes of female gestus and movement than even woman themselves do. Drag queens put the old and overcome roles in a jumble, taking their very personal role seriously. The most of the time overall questions about male, female, the regards on being normal or not are loosing their importance. After all it is the individuality which plays the most important role. The works have been produced in Berlin, Germany, the exhibition took place at Fotoforum, Innsbruck, Austria in november 1998 and at Franke/von Oppen, Berlin, Germany in may 1999.
